Happy July 4th!
We had a low-key day since we have meeting tonight. Today's also the last day of our "vacation", so we're back to reality tomorrow... :-(
We invited a few friends over for lunch today:
Burgers n' hot dogs for lunch...
Fruit from Sherrie
Potato Salad from Jane and Rose
Deviled eggs...

L-R: Jane, Rose, Sherrie, Clara, Charles & Peter
Our sweet workers... :-)
Banana Cream Pie from Clara
Lemon Bars...
Patriotic Cake from Clara...
Lots of food and friends! I'm still tuckered out from the last two days...
Hope everyone has a nice 4th of July holiday!

Progress? Something green anyway!
Peter and I took this Mon-Tues-Wed off work initially to have a nice vacation. However, due to Peter being on call for work, and a dirt 'lawn' that is desperately in need of some attention, we're staying home and being responsible adults. I'm finding this responsible thing just isn't really my bag. :)
Today we worked on our dirt for about 7 -ish hours. I planted some 'True Dwarf English Boxwoods' along the perimeter of the property (Peter dug my holes). They are so cute! They do look like dwarfs right now!
We planted 7 total...
What they will hopefully look like someday...
Look at the sprinkler!!! :-)
And here's what I spent the rest of the day doing... (this wasn't as fun) I raked, for the third time now, rocks out of this soil of ours. Every time we do it, I foolishly think it will be easier the next time... It's not. Ever. Hopefully this will be the last raking before it's hydro-seeded.
This slope is 1/2 done... If you click on the picture it's a bit clearer.
Peter spent his day filling in ditches... and filling in ditches... and, well, you get it. Oh, and digging holes for me!
I s'pose this will be all for now... Happy 2 days before the 4th of July!

Come Visit! It's green (almost) and clean!
So much for weekly blogging!
Here's some of our progress on this busy Saturday... :)
Peter has been working so diligently on the sprinkler system, and today we watched water spray!!! Here's a few pictures of his work: (more at our website)
Looking South and East off of the deck... (towards the road)
This is the valve box for the three zones that control the spinklers to the backyard.
There was a brush fire downtown-ish today... We had a birds eye (almost) view from here... I don't think there was much damage except to an underground fiber optic line.
And I thought I'd post some pictures of our guest rooms to see if I can convince anyone to come visit!! Here comes my best sales pitch for visiting The Dalles!
This is the upstairs guest room window looking towards what will soon be GREEN!
Comfy, cozy bed...
Upstairs guest bath - clean with fresh towels! :-)
Downstairs guest bedroom - This hopefully will be painted soon!

How does your garden grow?!
Well, ours doesn't but the neighbors sure does... and beautifully too! They're kind enough to share with us - we're scarfing down fresh snap peas this week! :-) (there's plenty to go around!)
More of their garden, and the roof of our shed...

For MANY more house pictures click here... and ENJOY! Come make good use of these extra beds we have!! Our summers are beautiful - HOT and dry!

Quickie
Not much time to write a lot tonight, so this'll be mostly catching up on pictures from the last week or so! :)
We spent most of last weekend in Portland at the Rose Cup races! One of the contractors at Peter's work sponsored the races, so we were able to get some tickets. It was LOTS of fun! We both got a bit sunburned, but enjoyed the 90 degree sunshine!
Here are some action shots: Click on the photos for a bigger, clearer image...
The Canadian Porsche was FAST...
Corvette trying to catch the Jag -
Nice assortment of cars...
Two of my favorite cars there - they were racing partners, but the yellow one didn't make it past the first lap! They're called Lola's... I'd never seen them before - pretty sweet ride!
Mmm...
We never saw this one race, but it sure was pretty sitting there!
Fastest by FAR of the Formula Series races - he even lapped the #2 position!
Of course, we had to get a pic of Microsoft's sponsorship! 2004 Porsche GT3
This 'vette was SO loud! Fast too... she came in # 2 behind the Jaguar (see pic below)
Jaguar: Super fast car! I think they maybe had a few aftermarket parts on this one... :)
Dodge Viper - This one often raced w/her sister car, which looked exactly the same except the other's spoiler was orange...
This one's for Peter...
Sherrie's Birthday @ Casa El Mirador - Last week!
And her Birthday tarts!
I'm looking forward to Parma Convention this weekend!

Weekend Festivities!
First off, I'll post some over-due pictures of the newest addition to our family...
Peter now has a work truck! This thing's a BEAST... Big, & LOUD! :-)
And here's more proof that we live in one of the prettiest places! The fields are close to harvesting now, so it's just beautiful, everywhere! (click on the pic, and you'll see the crop circle in the distance)
Fri - Mon we camped up at Pinehollow Resort... It's about 45 minutes SE of The Dalles... so, close enough that we could come back for meeting Sun. a.m.. I'm not sure "resort" really is the word for it, but we had a nice time! We rented a little cabin, right on the lake front that kept us nice and cozy at night (until the heater quit - hmph)... that's my kind of camping! :)
