Monday Evening Update

Peter finished the batten so the top half of the front of the house is ready for paint!
(Which won't happen for awhile - I'll just be honest about that right now)
Here's my Craigslist deal of the day. :) $50 for this custom made bookshelf - pretty nifty huh? I'm thinking I might paint it black & then distress it? We'll see!
Happy MLK Day!

Siding Progress

Saturday and today (Monday) have been warm (relatively speaking!), so Peter has been working on getting some of the siding up. His first "test" section was this triangle between the porch roof and the garage roof. It looks great! He put this up on Thursday evening after work.
Full view of the house. Soon we will no longer be a huge advertisement for Lowe's! :)
Another view - from the front.
Kitty was a BIG help. :)
Saturday Peter finished the flashing on the roof and started on the board and batten.
Today he finished up the board and is working on the batten! :) It looks so good!
Hardworkin' hubby.
Who'd'a-thunk we'd be calling 45°-50° weather warm... but it definitely feels like a heat wave! :)
I don't remember if I have ever mentioned how the siding will look when it's done? It'll be a mixture of lap siding, board and batten and shingles. All the materials will be Hardi-plank and the color scheme will be a sage green with cream trim. Similar to the green on the walls in this room. (Do you think that would be too dark???) To get an idea of all the types of siding we will use, take a look at this house. They used the same three mix of materials.

New Years Day

We decided to celebrate the New Year again on 01-01-10. (Just in case we hadn't partied enough the night before!)
This time was with some of the folks from our old Wednesday night meeting - who we miss terribly! Many games were played, much laughter filled the air, excessive amounts of food was eaten, and a wonderful time was had by all! Here's some of the Guesstures antics: (boys vs. girls)
David - Guess-turing "un-dress" - That's about as far as he had to go before the boys guessed it. Whew!
Jo - Oh how I wished I had gotten a photo of her guess-turing a "fire hydrant". She even managed to do it decently in a skirt! I'll leave the rest to your imagination. (think dog) :)
Darryl - "Attic"
Mark - "Smoke"
Liesl - "Telescope"
Lilleith
Ken
And now... drumroll... here's a hilarious video of Peter for you to enjoy. He's quite the actor!! :) Can you guess his words before the guys in the video do?
Such a fun night!

Happy 2010!

Friday night Peter and I headed out to the Neale's - where we go for Wednesday night meeting - to ring in the New Year.
On our way out...
Jennifer's table decorations - pretty!
The bountiful spread!
We made it all the way til' midnight... not looking quite so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as this first photo, eh?
Hope you all have a happy, healthy, content 2010!!!!!!!

Bad Day?

...pretty roses! Hubby knows how to make a difficult day at work SO much brighter.
I love him so much!

Porch Roofing

Peter worked this last week putting the shingles on our porch. It was less than 35° every afternoon he was out there - SO cold!
Dozer supervised from the stairs. :)
1/2 way there!
Almost done. :)
Now the roof is completely shingled and once the flashing is up, the house siding can be started!
