Quick Update

Well, we're off... actually, we've been homeless for 2 nights now. Last night we spent with my Aunt Renee and Uncle Ned in Boise, ID. Thanks again for the great company, delish food & soft bed!
Tonight we're in Rawlins, WY - pretty much the middle of nowhere. I've taken a few photos along the way, but am too tired to upload them tonight. I'm also too tired to write about our Budget truck saga. Those will have to come later. :-)
Here's one of us that Aunt Renee took when we arrived yesterday evening. Go Budget, Go. Only 1,795 more miles to roll...

Him, again.

We got Dozer some "sedating" pills for the trip today, he'll LOVE those. :-)
Ready to go...This packing stuff is tiring...

Dozer update!

We don't need a flyswatter. :-) See the videos - hilarious!

The catch...

Proud Hunter, eating his prey. I don't think flies are poisonous?! Just thought I'd share. :-) Smile!

Real quick like...

I planted some flowers today - curb appeal you know. :) They look nice - we'll see how long we can keep them living now!!

Flower at the front of the house:
Boxes everywhere...
New shoes since we've been working so hard. :) Keens. Mmm, so comfortable. They're a little "greener" (translation, "expensive") than I normally buy, but totally worth it for comfort. Our local hippie shoe store is going out of business - so I benefited! :-)That's all for now - have a lovely week! We leave in a WEEK and ONE day!

Official Move Date

We start the trek from The Dalles, OR to Vienna, VA on May 27th! When you map it out on Google Maps, it has to show a picture of the entire United States to see the whole route.
ACK!

Thank you for dinner Julie - it was wonderful!

CHERRY FESTIVAL

I don't even know how to write just how fun this event was! My friend Michelle and I had volunteered to "help" with the Cherry Festival Lip Sync by creating props, etc -and ultimately found ourselves as part of the star-studded cast! Anyhow, we had a blast, and many laughs, tears & rehearsals later we still felt like complete fools! I'll sure miss our Loan Dept - Friday was my last day of work at CRB.

Now I'll back up and explain the event. :-) Annually, The Dalles has a week-long event called the Cherry Festival kicking off the cherry season here. Tons of events take place all week long; the lip sync occurring on Tuesday night. Columbia River Bank has always participated in the event, and ALWAYS received last place. So, this year, we were determined to take the house! And that we did. Our group got 3rd place - but we were TOTALLY gypped - and that's the public's majority opinion too! Anyway, we had a GREAT time choreographing & planning the performance - and an even better time performing. :)

Move update

"Garage sale" is being zilched from my vocabulary starting right now...

What an exhausting day - and that's an understatement!!! We obviously had our garage sale today, and you wouldn't believe how these things happen here... I imagine they're the same everywhere, but I like to think that we're the "special ones", you know? :-) The folks that are called "early-birds" are more like VULTURES! And mean, grumpy ones at that. Those people should NOT be allowed to get out of bed that early in the morning.

Life is happening at lightening speed. I have some pictures that I really need to upload from last weekend - maybe I'll get to that tonight...?

We now have very little left in our big house... just enough to live on. Well, almost. I packed up the silverware the other day, right before realizing we might need those to eat with for awhile? Anyhow, we're enjoying the luxuries of plasticware now! (and I'm enjoying the new workload of dishes!)

We've started the packing process very methodically and organized. Red dots go on the boxes that will be stored, and green dots on the boxes that will go to our apartment, with lots of labeling on the outside. I imagine most of that organization will go out the window when our move date (which is still TBD - probably early June) gets closer.

We still need to find a place to live there - which I'm finding quite difficult since we won't have the chance to look at places before we go! So far it's kind of like the "close-your-eyes-and-point-at-one" method of choosing. We also still need to find a place to store all of our stuff. I'm quickly learning to appreciate accumulating only the dire necessities. Not only because it means less to pack, but also less to store! And storage in DC is $$$$$!

Ok, enough rambling for now. Sorry to be such a boring blogger these days. I'm hoping to pick back up once we get there (since I'll have ALL kinds of free time!).

Adios - have a lovely Sunday & week.
