Roof!

:-)
Take that squirrels.

Projects BIG & small!

BIG Project # 28374. We've started numbering our projects since there are so many... helps us stay organized. :-)
(That was a joke mom!) ;-)
Now the second layer of trim is up! The wide Hardi-Plank trim should be delivered tomorrow for below the eaves, then the diamond mesh can go up and then the rock can be mounted! I'm SO excited to see how the rock looks! (And we still LOVE the new garage door!)
I'm just realizing I never took photos of our new roof... Well, here's a teaser of the new shingles on the shed that Peter and Ken built around the fireplace. Next time I go outside I'll take pictures of the whole roof! It looks SOOO nice!
And little project #758932. They're little projects in pictures, but they really make a big difference! Now we can actually hear when we have visitors show up. :-)
New doorbell...
New door chime box! *ding dong*
And a new thermostat! So nice to be able to program temperature timing again. :)
Looking forward to dinner with friends tomorrow night! Adios!

Workin' hard

I'm so proud of my husband - he works so hard all day long and then comes home to work some more! Cutting trim for the garage:
Nailing it up
Painting more trim - my job! :)
First layer of the trim is up! Those painted pieces in the photo above will be the next layer, then the rock can be mounted! :)
And of course, here's one of our furry kritter... Even though he hates the water when it's bath time, he LOVES to play in puddles - this time it was the puddles I created when putting the rinsed dishes into the dishwasher.
More project pictures to come!

Mom's visit (in no particular order)

We've been enjoying having momsies here this week! Saturday Mom and I went exploring up at Great Falls National Park - it's quite beautiful there! I overheard some others mentioning that the water is way down, but I think it's more beautiful that way. :) The rocks are more visible with less water!
Mom n' I... we're HOT. Heat-hot.
Then we went SHOE SHOPPING! We have a certain someones wedding coming up, that mom just happens to be "mother-of-the-groom" in, and I'm on a mission to convince her to wear PINK shoes to the wedding. I need ALL the help I can get, so please comment on how BEA-U-TI-FUL these pink (yes, they're pink, not red - the picture coloring is bad) shoes are! :)
Yet another project! Last week Mom stripped all the wallpaper from the main floor 1/2 bathroom - BEFORE:
Then yesterday and today we worked on patching the holes, spackling the wall, sanding the spackling, and painting!
My first time spackling... I like it!
Mom painting, and Dozer supervising... The painting is still in process. The back wall will be some sort of chocolate brown, dark/milk chocolate still TBD... We have a pedestal sink for this room, but for now the cabinet will stay until we have more time to finish the project. And, onto our 25 mile bike ride on Monday (it really was only 14 miles but 25 sounds so much better). Mom and I rode the W&OD trail for awhile today and found this lovely pond with humongous water lilies. The lilies were at least 8 inches in diameter and the pads were over 12 inches. Beautiful.
LOTS and LOTS of bugs - this dragonfly cooperated for a quick photo op.
Water lilies, reeds and my favorite mom.
The cattails were just as pretty as the water lilies!
Laundry is calling - Adios! (don't foget to comment on Madre's shoes!)

Chimney, no more!

Peter's been a busy bee getting this project done! Our wood-burning stove (to be replaced eventually with a gas stove) now has it's own little shed to keep it dry and safe. :)
All boarded up, ready for shingles!
Speaking of shingles, we have yet to see our new ones installed! We have the wimpiest installers around these parts ~ "it's raining, so we need to reschedule"... "it's supposed to be in the upper 90's today, so we'll need to reschedule"... Soooo, we wait for the perfect weather, and maybe one day we'll have a new roof!?

Random, here and there...

Quick catch up on some old stuff and new...
MRock is the manufactured stone that we will be using on the front of the garage with diamond mesh to mount it on - Peter's new wheelbarrow from Sam's Club (great price if you need one!) - And stairs for our attic access... This picture has probably a months worth of projects in it!!!
When cleaning out the basement a few weeks ago, Peter found this little piece of excitement - Sorry it's so blurry, but it's a big bee nest! Ack. Glad they had vacated by the time he found it!
Here's what Peter worked on all weekend... You might remember that the chimney was the source of the leak in our bedroom? Well, no longer! The chimney has been completly removed, with a shed built around the back of the fireplace... we plan to replace the wood burning stove eventually with a gas stove. For now it'll just be for looks, and the monstrous, ugly chimney is gone! :)
And a peek at what I worked on this weekend - a RED dining room with white wainscoating... I LOVE IT! It looks so regal. Also, see those pretty flowers? My sweet hubby brought them home today! :)
In other news, our new roof will be installed tomorrow! And even more exciting... MOM IS COMING tomorrow!!! She's on a red eye tonight and should arrive around 11am. I'm soooooooo excited to have her here for the week!!! :)

We were sooooo fortunate to have had some good friends come lend a hand this weekend! Ken and Mark helped Peter with the chimney project and Liesl finished painting the living room! If they're reading this... THANK YOU oodles!!!

'Nuf for now - it's "goin' on midnight" - as my pops would say!
