Natural History Museum

Monday Sherrie and I went to the Natural History Museum. We didn't even cover 1/2 of the museum, but did get to see some of the highlights. Some of these photos are boring, but maybe they will give you an idea of where you'd like to go when you come visit us. :-)
The next six photos are pictures of pictures. I don't take any credit for them, they're all located at the Natural History Museum if you'd like to see them for yourself.
Powerful.
Beautiful.
Again, beautiful.
Aw!
Turtle! I just love these critters.
The coloring in this one is amazing.
We were on level three at this point, but the architecture of this building (inside and out) is amazing!
Does this remind you of this? :)
3-D globe showing where major fault lines lie.
GOLD! The Natural History Museum has an extensive rock & precious gems exhibit which is pretty neat.
I really just liked the way the heart reflected down in this picture. :)
Isn't this pretty?! (In a gaudy, ugly way.)
Enlarge, read then see the next picture...
The Hope Diamond - one of the attractions that the NHM boasts about. It's actually a beautiful royal blue color... here's a better picture of it. 45.52 Carats... that might be a little heavy on your finger! (or your neck for that matter)
Then... we went to the butterfly exhibit! It was so fun to have them fluttering all over, landing in your hair, etc. Below are some photos of ones that landed and sat still long enough to photograph! :)
I love the green one!

This little guy was getting towards the end of it's life span. He was quite cooperative at sitting still.
Isn't this one pretty next to the fluorescent blue?
That's all folks! I finally got all my updating done. :) I probably won't post until after the 11th, as we're off to Cancun, Mexico on Saturday. Adios!

Looks more interesting than I'd have thought :P (from the non-cultural side of me!) The "target" reminds me of all the 3-D earth models we did in middle school
